Keurig coffee maker issues and warranty - Bed Bath and Beyond can help

People love coffee and spend a lot of dough on it. If you have a Keurig single cup coffee maker, then you are familiar with the coffee pods. There is every flavor imaginable and many companies, like Dunkin Doughnuts, have their branded coffee in pods now. So 2 issues we'll talk about, the pods, then the maker itself.

PODS:
The pods are anywhere from $7.99 to $15.99 per box. Typically 18 pods per box is usual. They are not all created equally. If you get pods that leech grounds into the coffee or produce a less than average size cup, call the manufacturer. Green Mountain, for instance, will send you a replacement box if you call with an issue. You will need to give them some info on where you bought it, but they will take care of you.

KEURIG:
Have you seen the "descale" message pop up on your brewer? If so then you know that something is wrong. Typically it means there is build up in the lines that needs to be cleaned out. Usually caused by hard water or minerals clogging up the works. This can be done with vinegar and a toothpick and works well in most cases.
       Procedure:
                1. Simply run a full resevoir of vinegar through, followed by a couple of just water.
                2. Then open the pod holder and with a toothpick, gently place it inside the hollow of the
puncture needle and swish it around to get any grounds or build up out.
                3. Now run a few cycles of water until no debris is in the cup.
If descale returns or if you notice the maker is "short cupping" then you will need to call Keurig. They will troubleshoot the issue and replace the unit if it is in warranty. But what if it is past the 1 year mark? Well if you got it at Bed Bath and Beyond, return it to them. Tell them it is short cupping and Keurig support was unable to resolve the issue. I have been contacted by several people and verified this with a local store. No receipt needed, just bring in the old unit and they will swap for the same model. Thats a $149.99 savings! You might want to call before hand and just make sure they have some in stock and are ok with doing that. As with any return policy, the rules that are bent or broken depend on your approach and the person behind the counter.

  1. Even if you didn't buy it there, they will replace it. They told my friend they have a contract with Keurig. She brought her old, broken one in and they told her to go pick out a new one. They didn't even care which one she picked!

    1. Technically, every retailer that has keurig products has a contract with them. Like any retailer, they won't accept a return if you didn't actually purchase the machine from them.

    3. I got my Keurig for Christmas so my receipt (if my daughter kept it) is twenty miles away near the store (not BB&B) where she bought it. When I read that I could simply return it to BB&B I called them right away and the girl said it was true! Today when I returned it I ran into a different story. The girl on duty was not happy about taking it but I told he it's online (didn't matter) I told her I called and the girl said I could (what girl). The girl then said she would take it only if they handled them but only this time and never again. This was at the York, PA store. BEWARE!!!!!!!!

    4. I forgot to mention they refunded me $26 less than the price they have online. Beware of this too!

  2. Incorrect. We didn't purchase our's from BBB, took it back and was given a brand new machine. We have a friend who did the same thing with the same results.

    1. I took my coffee maker to BBB, it was a gift from my children, but they wouldn't take it. They said my children bought it at Walmart and I needed to go there. Walmart told me they wouldn't take it back because it had been past 90 days. I will never buy there again.

    2. They have a one year warranty so I figure any store should replace them in that time period. Walmart is really getting strange. They now check your cart on the way out. They stock things on shelves six feet high and four feet deep so I'm always going to the cleaning aisle to grab a broom or mop to get stuff down. The twenty pound cat litter containers are going to spark a lawsuit when one falls down on someone.

  7. Is there a particular number you need to call for BBB in order to get a replacement? This is my third one and have not had this problem before.

  10. This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I love seeing websites that understand the value of providing a quality resource for free. It is the old what goes around comes around routine.

  11. If Bed Bath & Beyond sells the model you want to return - mine is a B70 - they will give you a store credit for 80% of the current value - if you don't have a receipt. I got mine 5 years ago for Christmas and the motor inside just failed - taking it back to Bed Bath & Beyond!

  12. My Keurig that I bought in Nov. 2013 suddenly stopped working this morning 03/15/17 - seemed like the problem was the water pump/motor (not sure how they work). I had kept EVERYTHING - receipt, box, booklets, etc. I took it all back to the store on Ulmerton Rd. in Largo, FL, which is where I bought it. They didn't have the exact model, so let me exvhange it for the closest equivalent, and gave me a credit of the price I paid for the old one, plus 20% off the original price of the new one. So, I got a brand new Keurig with store price of about $120 for $16 plus tax. This is fantastic! All of the people who helped me were very nice - the supervisor had to give the cashier a key code since the return was over 1 year old, but it was all done with smiles and utmost customer service - the cashier even apologized that I'd had to wait a few minutes for the supervisor to come help me find the equivalent model! I told her that I didn't mind at all and that I was delighted to receive a new Keurig practically free. This is a great store and I will make it a point to shop there more often, especially as they have a great selection of pod flavors.

  13. Ok I've read all of these, but are from so long ago, minus AWARD's, I'm hesitant to try this policy. I put a VERY old Keurig second hand at a resale shop. I'd love to have a new model but they cost so much. I have no way of knowing where it was originally or when. Do any of you think I have a chance at getting a new one? I've had it for 5ish year. No idea how longer the previous person had it. Any tips?

  14. I received a single cup purple keriug as a gift. I put 3 cups water in it today and only got 1/16th of a cup back. I’m really disappointed with it. Just went and spent money for pods and now no keriug! Help! No receipt and no idea where it was bought!
